Well, that was my plan, anyway. In truth, I found myself procrastinating in my bathroom, trying to delay the inevitable for as long as possible by trying on just about every dress in my wardrobe.
I eventually had to give in and accept my fate when I got a message of Jess
inviting me to join her at one of the more popular New Year's Eve parties. I
think she wasn't anymore thrilled to be there than I was going to be and
wanted some company to make it a little more bearable.
As I mentioned, it was a very popular party, full peeps dancing down the clock
until midnight. At least, that I was it looked like. But the atmosphere in
there was dead. No party spirit at all.
Upon closer inspection, the reason was plainly obvious. Doing a quick little
head count of everyone there, it struck me that 40% of the people there were
not even guests. They were dancers from all of the dance teams that were
there. I couldn't even tell you how teams there were but it must have been
approaching double figures.
Seems pointless to me to have all those dancers when there is no atmosphere.
Unless the party would have been for Halloween, because all of the zombies
there would have been thematically appropriate for that. But not for New
Year's when there is supposed to be some cheer in the air.
Suffice it to say, I managed to delay my arrival until about half and hour
before midnight and I was heading out the door by about 10 minutes past.
That's all I could manage. Bah humbug!
